Dr. Claire Hudkins, soprano, is an enthusiastic teacher of voice and piano and performs regularly as a soprano soloist. For the past seven years she has been pursuing her passion for training singers of all ages and abilities in all genres of music. She encourages creativity, consistency, musical growth and individuality in all her students. Through the beauty of music, Claire enjoys working with each of her students to find their true potential as a singer or pianist.
Claire has entertained the Portland area and the greater Cincinnati area in many operatic and musical productions. Past roles include Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff, Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Johanna in Sondheim’s Sweeny Todd. She is also an avid recitalist singing programs including art songs by Paul Hindemith, Hanns Eisler, Kurt Weill, Sergei Rachmaninoff, André Caplet and John Duke. She has also sung at a variety of chamber concerts and has sung as a church soloist. Most recently she was the soprano soloist for Handel’s Messiah with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Claire holds her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati, where she also earned her Master’s Degree in Voice. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
Claire has traveled to Italy and Germany for extensive training in singing and language study. She specializes in German repertoire, and while at CCM she was awarded the Mercer scholarship from the Voice Department to study German language in Dresden, Germany. Originally from Salem, Oregon, Claire is thrilled to be in her home state at Resound NW. She loves working with eager students and guiding them on their musical journeys.
