Coaching Requests

Below is a list of common questions asked by voice students in lessons and classes.  These are suggestions of coaching requests, but feel free to make up you own!  This list is just a starting point to get you thinking. 

Vocal Technique

*How can I breathe for singing?

*I’m having trouble with high/low notes.

*How can I sing more comfortably/relaxed/powerfully? (general vocal technique)

*I want to figure out how to sing louder/softer or with different colors and textures.

*My voice keeps getting tired/hoarse/raspy.

*How can I work through the transition between my head voice/chest voice/falsetto.

Repertoire

*I want to work on learning a new song.

*I want to try a song in a different style of music/figure out what style works for my voice.

*I need help picking an audition song. (Or other public performance/church/karaoke, etc.)

Musicianship

*How can I work on having better rhythm/counting?

*I want to learn to sight-read/read music better.  

*I want to learn how to sing a harmony part.  

*How can I have better pitch/intonation?

Performance

*Help!  I’m terrified to sing!

*How can I be more comfortable/relaxed when I perform?

*I want to learn how to use a microphone and/or sing for a recording.
