Do you want to explore your guitar or ukulele skills in a relaxed and joyful environment? Would you like your music to resound with true ease and freedom? Please join Maria Olaya, world-class performer, teacher, composer and arranger, for this exciting opportunity.
What will we do in class?
Utilizing Blues and Folk music styles, you will learn hands-on relaxation techniques to ease the comfort of your playing while exploring basic rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic improvisation. We will also sing a song together and accompany ourselves. All activities are designed to be appropriate to your instrument, style of playing and level, in a supportive and fun group environment.
Which instruments can I play in this class?
This group class is meant for beginning and intermediate guitar (acoustic and classical) and ukulele (soprano, concert, tenor and baritone) players.
Is this class just group playing or also solo playing?
If you have a song or a solo you would like to share, there is a section of the class dedicated to individual performance and coaching.
What skills do I need to have to participate?
This class is designed to help you build on your basic skills in a group setting. To be able to fully participate, you will need to know at least 6 basic chords. You will also need to know 1 or 2 basic strumming or finger picking patterns. If you are able to play a song from beginning to end, that is helpful, too, but not mandatory!
