Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to bring songs I've already written to this class?
No! This class is intended to help you exercise your songwriting skills in real time during the class time. You will learn valuable skills that you can apply to new songs you write or to songs you've previous written (if applicable)
Do I have to have songwriting experience to join this class?
No! This class is open to anyone interested writing music, even if you've never tried before. Some musical experience as a performer is definitely helpful for this class, whether as a singer or instrumentalist. But the class is useful for musicians with lots of songwriting experience and for those who have never written before.
Do I need to play an instrument for this class?
Being able to play a chord instrument (piano, guitar, ukulele, etc.) is definitely helpful but not strictly required. Some students write songs with a chord instrument but others just write melodies with their voice. It's up to you.
I love to write music but struggle with finding the time and space to do it in my life. Is this class right for me?
Perfect, that's exactly what this class is for! So many people desire to write music or do it on occasion, but have a hard time making space in their lives for songwriting. This class is designed to be a supportive environment to continue this creative work in your life. You'll be gathered with a whole group of people all being creative together at the same time!
I've been writing music for many years. Will this class be helpful for me?
Absolutely! Even if you have lots of songwriting experience, this class will teach you new skills. It will give you the opportunity to respond to a creative prompt in real time. And it will give you a chance to share you music with others and get valuable feedback about your work.
- A chance to learn more about the craft of songwriting, including lyrics, melodies, chords, song structures, concepts, and artistic inspiration
- An opportunity to carve out time in your life to practice the discipline of songwriting
- A communal opportunity to share your music with others in a safe and uplifting environment
What is included in class?

- Song sharing: each class finishes with a time to share what you've written, celebrate the progress of each students, and receive helpful feedback from the instructor(s) about your writing
